ASUS TUF FX505-DT , Honest Review after a full year of usage

 Hey Everyone , Am Aakash and am here to help you decided whether or not the Asus TUF FX505-dt is worth buying.




-While Asus's ROG series offer a high end gaming laptop series the TUF series offer a more affordable laptops that can fulfill your needs. The laptop on table today is Asus FX505-dt, this laptop comes with Nvidia's 16 series graphic card coupled with AMD's ryzen 5 3500h.


-The TUF laptop is not a hardcore gaming machine but it still offers a decent gaming experience. From my whole year of usage i can say for sure "You won't be disappointed". I have tried variety of games like Witcher 3 wild hunt , GTA 5 , Red dead redemption 2 , Player's unknown battleground etc. And the overall experience with a budget handy laptop was honestly satisfying.

  • General Specifications 

The Asus TUF FX-505DT offers Ryzen 5 3550h processor with base clock speed of ~2.1 Ghz upto 3.7 Ghz , 8 Gb of 2400 mhz RAM , 1 TB HDD and 256Gb NVMe M.2 SSD,  A 120hz refresh rate monitor for smooth experience , Nvidia GTX 1650 4Gb DDR5 graphic card, DTS Headphone X:V1 7.1 channel surround Sound , HyperCool Techonology and build quality of  Military grade certified toughness . 

~And of course RGB keyboard ;) 

  • Performance 

-Most of the games i have tested on this device gives average of 60 or more FPS on high/ultra settings.

-A bit of frames drops have been noticed while playing certain games like Apex Legends on ultra settings ranging from 41-59 FPS though turning down the settings can overcome the drops and deliver a smooth experience as required

  • Display and Audio

-Asus offers a 15.6 inch IPS -level NanoEdge display with 120 hz refresh rate, the "Nano Edge refers to thin bezels on the 3 sides of the monitor , the 120hz refresh rate offers a buttery smooth experience 


-Talking about the audio , The quality is very good with the additional DTS Headphone X :V1  7.1 channel surround sound technology , There are various options you can check in the application 








-You can customize settings as per your satisfaction

  • Cooling

-Cooling is one of the most important factor while gaming , keeping the cooling as a priority this laptop offers a HyperCool Technology with 2 Fans. There are 3 setting one can choose : Silent Mode, Performance Mode and Turbo Mode

-The speed of fan does make some sound , On silent mode the Fans create 23-30 dB of sound , very smooth and silent sound . On Performance mode , it creates 27-35 dB of sound and on Turbo Mode, it creates 35-46/47 dB of sound.
*Note* 
The sound of fans won't overlap with speaker output , the Audio output is far better ;)


  • Armoury crate


-Now this is a fun bit application , Armoury crate of Asus provides a full access to customization and different setting , everything in a single application 





-As you can see, every system information is displayed on the home screen , There are many other cool things you can try and customize in this application 

                                    Here You can select the RGB setting for your keyboard.


-There are 4 basic effects as shown, you can select color in static , breathing and strobing effects , you can adjust the speed and brightness ( brightness can also be controlled through Fn + ↓ arrow key)


- One More cool option here is the Theme, you can choose various themes from above





 







Final Verdict


-Now for the final verdict, So is this laptop yay or nay? sooo this laptop is definitely YAY , This laptop is by far the best in price segment , during sale you can get this laptop around 49-52k which is best offer you can get for a power pack laptop like this, if you have a budget at the above range, then you don't need to think twice before opting this laptop , I can assure you won't be disappointed.
